Children's day/Baal Diwas
Today got mail from a special friend that when ever he is visiting my blog he could only find vengayam (onion)….when I read that in hasten I interpreted as venayagam… and discussions went between us for that topic.. the instant our discussion was finished got another mail from my relation regarding her wishes for children’s day…
“yes wish to go back to those wonderful kids world…..%^^$&%^& but can we??? “ no we cannot…
Children’s day !!!! a day which takes my memory to those days.. when we used to be in uniform from Monday to Saturday… during some special Saturday it would be casual dress day..haiyya … we would be eagerly waiting for such day to demo our diwali or pongal dress to our fellow classmate or friends… fighting ,crying, getting doss from parents... Athalam andha kaalam…kaana kalam.....
only memories left now and in future may be we can experience same with our kids…
Universally, Children’s Day is celebrated on 20th November, every year. This date was chosen as a day to celebrate childhood. However, while 20th November is universally celebrated as Children’s Day, in India this day has been preponed to 14th November, the date that marks the birth anniversary of independent India’s first Prime Minister – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
The reason why his birthday has been chosen for the celebration of children is because of his love and passion for children. Pandit Nehru is also regarded as the country’s special child to have been the first Prime Minister, after her long struggle for independence.
I still remember my school days during Baal divas another name for Children’s day .We all used to be excited very much .. one week before preparation would start as this day brought with it various entertaining stage performance and sport events. In our schools we used to have cultural programmes for the day with the students managing it all. Teachers of the school perform songs and dances for their students. Various competitions like quizzes, fancy dress competitions, elocutions are organised on this day. Children are also treated to a movie and lunch.
I guess I am not confusing with teacher’s day and children;s day.. a day when we play the role of teacher .. wear saree and all activies taken care by children.. as it is midnight and my brain “ gans charne gayi hae”…( not active now)…
Baal Divas is a day for children to engage in fun and frolic. The great gift to Childhood is their innocence and playfulness.. which is lost with child's growth.
