Recollect & Refresh !!

Today is 26 November the clock on the table shows its half past 11. Just few minutes to pass for the clock to tick and 27 November to start.Yes a special day.. Daddy’ birthday that’s how my daughter says..
I thought of making use of this valuable time to scribble something .

Yday I was showing some animated cartoons to my daughter when I came across one such video which took me into the world where there was no time for worries, my childhood days.

In this wifi world the internet is like a time machine which makes us to go back into the past and dig out the sweet memories.Hope all are aware of the fact that before the evolution of satellite television Doordharsan was only source entertainment which was broadcasted national wide. I still remember those days when we can find a black and white TV in most houses. Some parents who were over conscious about their kids used to buy a B& W tv along with door and a key.
So a physical key was replacement for parental control in remote those days.

Now with the evolution of satellite television there are so many channel /services/programs with not much importance to any of them.

But those days we used to give so much importance to our favorite programs that we scarified our foods and sleep to watch them and curse DD when some boring stuff was broadcasted which would slice into our favourite shows.

Youtube video I was referring in the beginning “Ek Anek aur Ekta by Films Division 1974”

This video is fantastic one. Those who can understand Hindi will agree to me and those who don’t as well will agree .Since they will love to listen the music.
It is all about giving a positive and powerful message “be united” .
"Aesop " an Ancient Greek fabulist and author has very well said the same as

“United we stand; divided we fall”

To add more about DD from wiki
National programme was introduced in 1982. In the same year, colour TV was introduced in the Indian market with the live telecast of the Independence Day speech by then prime minister Indira Gandhi on 15 August 1982, followed by the 1982 Asian Games being held in Delhi. The 80s was the era of Doordarshan with serials like Hum Log (1984), Buniyaad (1986-87), comedy shows like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984) and mythological dramas like Ramayan (1987-88) and Mahabharat (1988-89) glued millions to Doordarshan. Other popular programs included Hindi film songs based programs like Chitrahaar and Rangoli and crime thrillers like Karamchand (starring Pankaj Kapoor), Byomkesh Bakshi (starring Rajit kapur) and Janki Jasoos.

Few more other videos I managed to collect from youtube [ Do Use your headphones while watching these videos ]

Will extend this scribble as and when I get any updates and time..

So do you miss the excellent old Years?

And these song are dedicated to daddy , unfortunately i could not find any tamil such song :) :)

Expect the unexpected

Gardening has always my all time favourite hobby. Whether we grow the plants in a garden , allotment, pot or even a window- box, it aims to inspire you to think about what you plant in your garden and most importantly how you water your plants.

I feel indoor plants / indoor flowering plants can make a big impact on any room. Growing plants indoors can also be a good lesson for kids in responsibility and plant care. Ammu ( that’s how I sometimes call my daughter ) will be the first person to water those plants every alternate days

Unfortunately the property in the 6th floor where we are located has got no provision for garden space and we don’t have any option to choose the plant to be grown in the garden. The only option left with us is to use indoor pot plant or window boxes.

When ever we go for weekly shopping first section we visit would be flower section. One reason for that is most supermarkets have flower section near to entrance which always attracts our eyes. Apart from this we are great fan of IKEA where they have a quite big area allocated for gardening.

We always manage to get few plants from Ikea some of those are Dracaena marginata, Livistona routundifola, Pachira Aquatica and chrysanthmums. We are always unlucky with respect to Livistone routundifola which always have short life span even less then one month

The good things about Chrysanthemums is they grow as well indoors as they do outdoors. They need good light and average room temperatures. Other instruction to be followed are
->Do not water them until the soil is completely dry.
->Propagate them by taking cuttings and rooting them in water.
-> Do not put them near a heat source

As we use these flowers to offer to god so Chrysanthemums flower pot is often found in our supermarket shopping list.

It was during the month of April 2009 when we bought one such yellow Chrysanthemums pot plant. As a regular routine all flowers were offered to god.

The pot without any flower was placed in our lounge in one corner for long and Ammu was watering that plant on a regular basis The plant was green even after a month was passed and there were no signs of it becoming dry. I was really surprised to see bright green leaves every day.Even I discussed with my husband about this.

Days passed, month passed and i was watering the pot while watering other plants.

Two weeks before as a routine when I was about to water the plant I could notice
buds.I was so happy to see those flower buds after 8 month. Now the flower has blossomed and it really looks great. It was real surprise as the max this Chrysanthemums last would be one month.

Here is the snap which was taken two weeks before

And this one is taken today….

So always expect the unexpected .

Memories

Before I start with today's post, I wanted to point out regarding yesterday post about photo competition.

Today the results were announced and and fortunately one of my photo got selected .
Wondering which photo got selected here is the one..

Today's post let me start with a challenge.

Quote: Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love,
the things you are, the things you never want to lose.
Author:Kevin Arnold

So here is the weekend challenge. Can you guess as to when or where this image was shot? and persons name whose hands are seen in picture?

Most of the answer is already available with many who is reading this. However lets see as to who is the first person who can either find/guess it.

[Hint: Its in UK only.....]

Will announce the solution in my next post. Wish you all a nice week end while we start on another routine shopping this weekend :)

Photo competition

Today evening when i checked my gmail inbox, I could find a message from the blogspot . After seeing that message i thought to kick start my Kirukals again
It is almost 3 years now i had scribbled anything .At this point i remember about the local photo competition and i had send two of my photos.Due to shortage of time i just managed to get some photos which i had in my notebook .I was bit lazy to look up into archive and get some good ones.Anyhow i had already send the photos for the competition and now i am waiting for the result , and i am 100% confident enough that these photos will not win any place :).But let me cheer up myself thinking atleast i participated in the competition and to prepare well next time
