Deepam day..
We were all set to celebrate the Kaarthigai Deepam and my husbands birthday as both falls on same day i.e full moon day of the Kaarthigai month which coincides with Krithikai star. Needless to say the festival involves house cleaning,lighting clay lamps or candles, decorating the house, some really delicious eats like pori urundai's ( in tamil) and of course firing crackers.
The plan was to invite friends for a small get together followed by lighting candles in the evening but the celebration was somewhat muted by husband being sick because of the samosas he had along with his friend at Tiffin bite.
Deepam day started with calling and sending sms to friends to cancel the get together schedule.But we still managed to light candles and deepam.
