High marks... but no jobs
A nation-wide test of skill sets among engineering graduates aspiring for jobs in the IT/BPO sectors has found low correlation between academic performance and employability levels.
The results of the test taken by 25,000 students from 800 colleges across seven States between January and April, in which they were assessed for verbal, analytical and mental application skills also indicated that the academic system was not aligned with expectations of industry.
The assessment carried out by Bangalore-based MeritTrac Services, a provider of pre-recruitment competence testing methodology, mapped the talent pool in the engineering stream based on skill levels and geographical distribution.
It is estimated that India produces 3.50 lakh engineers annually, and 60 per cent prefer jobs in IT to other streams.
Divergent needs
One of the conclusions of the survey is that there was a divergence in the understanding of requirements of three stakeholders — industry, campus placement officers and students.
"The next level for us is to involve the stakeholders in a process of understanding each other's requirements," Madan Padaki, Director of MeritTrac, said on Monday. Billed as India's first-ever comprehensive survey of fresh engineering graduates, the results of the exercise have provided empirical validation to what have only been anecdotal pointers to the quality of IT manpower available in the country.
But research by MeritTrac has shown a strong correlation between a high score in the IT abilities test and interview selection rate and job performance.

Internet !!!.. thanks to technology !..Chatting another gift of technology...which will make persons meet from one end of world to another end...Make's persons feel like in home though par away from near n dear one's ... Chatting ,conference ,web cam are some more gifts of technology.
yes there are disadvantages too...as a coin has two sides ! hence net also same....
It was one fine morning when a pop up displayed on the screen with a sound " dassssssssss" ( for persons who use chat with sound option disabled might feel like junk word).. Anamika got a chat invitation from an unknown .She saw the msg and just was going to deny as usual as she used to do when ever she gets any chat invitation from unknown..but before clicking the deny button she had a glance at the msg in the pop up window.." hi i am Rahul , got your id from web vivah portal..."..her mind changed ,she thought to accept the invitation and the mouse cursor which was on "deny' button was dragged to "accept" button n with a click she added the id....followed by her routine work..
next morning again in the morning she got msg from same person "Hi"
she thought to reply
Anamika: hi
Rahul: how are you?
Anamika:fine here! how about there!
Rahul: fine
Rahul: i got your id from "web vivah"
Anamika:fine hope you might seen the profile at web vivah!
followed by some formal chat !
the chat conversation lasted for less than 10 mins .... which ended up with
Anamika : I would like to chat later in case and if needed !
bye !
Rahul:Bye
Anamika did'nt bothered much about the chat conversation just she informed the same to her brother and was lost with routine!
after few more days ..again Hi from same id
she replied back hi...
to be continued .....

GONE ARE THE DAYS...
When the school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and benches ....
When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books and notes.....
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
Managed to line up daily for the morning prayers....
We learnt writing with slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips....
We began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Colour pencils and finally sketch pens....
We started calculating first with tables and then
with Clarke's tables and advanced to calculators and
computers.....
When we chased one another in the corridors in
Intervals, and returned to the classrooms drenched
in sweat.......
When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,
Playgrounds, under the trees and even in cycle
sheds.......
When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays.....
When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons.......
When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls.......
When few played "kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun,
While others simply played "book cricket" in the
Confines of classroom......
Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy......
When we used to watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks......
When few rushed at 3:45 to
"Conquer" window seats in our School bus......
While few others had "Big Fun", "bhel puri",
"kulfi ice", "stick ice !" and "pepsi !" at 4 o'Clock......
Gone are the days Of Sports Day,
and the annual School Day ,
And the one-month long preparations for them.....
Gone are the days Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most enjoyed
holidays after them......
Of tenth and twelfth standards, when we
Spent almost the whole year writing revision tests.,,,,
We learnt, we enjoyed, we played, we won, we lost,
We laughed, we cried, we fought, we thought.
With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience , all this and more.....
Gone are the days when we used to talk for hours with our friends.
Now we don't have time to say a HI......
Gone are the days when we played games on the road.
Now we code on the road with laptop.....
Gone are the days when we saw stars shining at night.
Now we see stars when our code doesn't work.....
Gone are the days when we sat to chat with friends on grounds.
Now we chat in chat rooms.....
Gone are the days where we studied just to pass.
Now we study to save our job ....
Gone are the days where we had no money in our pockets
and fun filled on our hearts ....
Now we have the ATM as well as credit card
but with an empty heart ....
Gone are the days where we shouted on the road.
Now we dont shout even at home
Gone are the days where we got lectures from all.
Now we give lectures to all.....
Gone are the days But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and
Ever and ever and Ever .....
NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE ,
DONT FORGET TO LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL EXISTS.
IT WONT BE THERE FOR EVER. EAT THE ICECREAM BEFORE IT MELT......

Vedham Pudhidhu.....
This from my memory about the conversation between Satyaraj and the small boy in the movie “vedham pudhidhu”..appadiye nacchinu irukkum..hope most of them might seen that movie..
Still a flash back..
While crossing river the boys asks Satyaraj to tell some story..for that Satyaraj narrates an old story ..as below
There was a Sanskrit scholar, who, while crossing the river, had the
following interesting conversation with the boatman:
Scholar, "Have you read Ramayana?"
Boatman, "No sir. I struggle to fill my stomach. I have not read
Ramayana."
Scholar, "One quarter of your life is wasted, if you have not
read Ramayana."
The Boatman heart this and continued to row the boat.
Scholar, "OK. Have you at least read Mahabharata?"
Boatman smiled again and said, "No."
Scholar, "Yet another quarter of your life is wasted if you have
not read Mahabharata."
As the Boatman remained silent and continued to row the boat, the
arrogant scholar, asked, "How about Sanskrit – do you know
Sanskrit?"
Boatman, "No Sir."
Scholar, "One further quarter of your life is wasted because you
are not exposed to Sanskrit."
The Boatman saw that the scholar did not understand his position and
hence continued to row his boat. Suddenly, as the boat was right in
middle of the river, the boatman realized that water was seeping
into the boat through a hole. Immediately, the Boatman asked the
Scholar, "Oh! Sir, do you happen to know Swimming?"
Scholar, "Why? I don't know swimming."
The Boatman said, "Oh! How sad – your full life is
wasted."
Both (Satyaraj n the boy)starts laughing ..then Satyaraj says to the boy
Jathi, madham ellam summa perukku olagathula only one jathi athu thaan manitha jathi..
Again following conversation starts between them
Boy: unga peruu enna?
Satyaraj :Balu Thevar
Boy:Balu unga peru... Thevar enna needga padichi vangana pattama????????????????????
Satyaraj : ( ku palar palar nu adicha mari irukkum)
Boy:Nan kara yerittein..neenga eppo yera poreenga….
